Nightshade stood anxiously in front of a large table covered in small small plastic pieces that glowed an eerie blue. Hundreds of pieces were grouped together on various sections of the table, showing the units that were currently in play from a war that had gone on for far too long.
The table glowed grey with peeks and mountain ranges, plains and flatlands, and various other landscapes that all around the battle grounds known as Central City. The table was a map of the current world and all the players of both sides of the war he had been apart of for roughly 300 years.
On one side were his forces, The Voidwalkers and all of their power, the Dark Terrans, Scarlet Moon sect, and a few other forces that had just recently joined forces with him. Over the last 400 years, he had been trying to erradicate the forces known as the Wardens. A supernatural group of do goods that protected Central City for the last 3000 years.
Central City and the world had advanced into an irritating state of peace. To Nightshade, peace was boring and made his skin crawl.
He watched the red figures move from place to place and then watched smaller groups of blue figures intercept, followed by red figures fading away without a single blue figure with them. He had planned his alpha strike carefully. Luring many packs of Wardens to places where they would be at disadvantage. but no matter the numbers or the power he threw into them, they always seemed to be vanquished without fail and few losses to the oppositions sides.
It was their leader, Alexander Labeau, also known as Zero. He had become to powerful. When he was a child, he was powerful but very unstable. He was just as dangerous to his friends as he was to his enemies. But Zero got older, his powers grew stable and his prowess became fierce. He had been trained by Psychorin, an ancient military black ops force which gave him insane amounts of close quarters combat strength. He was trained by the Shadow Guardians, an extinct force of guardians that gave him an insane range for melee assaults. He was a lightning style chi user which made him faster than anything he could throw at him. He was trained by Bastion Hellias in Reaper Style techniques which gave him a way to replenish his energies for each soul he absorbed. Trained by Simon Heavenias in Collector style techniques which gave him the ability to summon a small or large army at will with the souls that he did not absorb in the past. Trained by Rune of the Hybrid, an ancient and dead Dragon with the killer instinct of a vampire do to his turning, he could teleport, phase in and out of three different realms and had runes etched into his skin that gave the ability to hear, see and feel anything that any other Warden was feeling at the moment. Trained by his father in Dark Matter ascension, his strength and even more augmented and, then on top of all that he was a master Telekinetic specialist with the willpower to stop any physically created force that came his direction.
He was single handily deciding the fate of his forces by standing atop the highest point in the city and watching what was going on from any distance, he was almost godlike and Nightshade would never kill him on any battlefield. He seemed to have no weaknesses anymore. Ever since he decided to go full time Warden and then took on leadership of the Wardens, he was a force to be reckoned with. Nightshade could not be harmed in his pocket universe, but he could not leave either, knowing that Zero would see him and instantly try and end the war immediately by destroying him. So he worked through his forces, the ones that couldn't keep up with Wardens. A single Warden trained by Zero could take on 100 of Nightshades and now he was beginning to lose control of Central City.
Nightshade growled from underneath his cowl and as the red figures began to fade away in a wave of absolute massacration, he screamed and slammed his hands onto the table, the strength of the hit causing the table to fold and the vibration was enough to dust anything no longer attached to the table.
He looked to the pieces of table and shook his head as he walked over to a console and pressed a few buttons. The room lit up as an "Omega" symbol appeared in the center of the room.
A second figure appeared in the room and looked to Nightshade, then to the table.
"He is officially to strong. We must do something about him.", the figure spoke, his tone having no pitch and no range, just a monotone dialog, like listening to a computer.
Nightshade looked to him and growled, "I am aware of the situation Nega. I must think. We have lost everything except you and I. What can we do?"
Nega thought for a moment, his eyes glowing red as a smile appeared. "Did you know Zero used to have the ability to shift in and out of time?"
Nightshade tilted his head and looked to Nega. "Yes. That ability no longer exist though. He has lost it."
Nega grinned as he reached to one his sleeves and used his hands to move the sleeve up his other arm revealing scars and tattoos. One in particular began to shine and glow red as Nega focused energy into it.
"Yes, he has but I haven't. I still have one use left.", Nega showed Nightshade whose eyes grew wide as the power within that single seal.
"Where in the hell did you get that?", Nightshade questioned as Nega chuckled but did not answer.
"The problem with Zero is that he has had to much time to become powerful, but because he lives outside of time he does not follow the worlds rules of magic or reality.", Nega explained as the table reconstructed itself with Nega using a finger to direct the pieces.
The red and blue figures appeared once more, with very few red figures left anywhere in the area or world for that matter. The Blue figures were giving chase and slowly eliminating the reds as they caught up.
"Bring your forces to this world, and allow them to follow. This is where we will strike."
Nightshade shook his head, "We cannot kill him here, nor can he kill us. There will only be 2 people left after that battle is over. Him and I. I do not want to risk losing absolutely everything."
Nega looked to the map then to Nightshade as several small reds faded. "At this point, you WILL lose everything, to you might as well risk everything. The purpose is not to kill them, but instead scatter them across time. That will thin their forces and if we go far enough back, none of them will have their powers, abilities or knowledge of their current world, so they will be easier to kill. After all, you have been here for thousands of years, you can kill them before they become something. There's just one catch."
Nightshade looked to the map and gave orders to his remaining forces, which in an instant redirected towards the pocket verse dimensional rift. "What's that?"
Nega lifted a hand and gripped Nightshade Telekinetically by the throat, I need your soul!", he said appearing behind Nightshade and began to draw the red spiritual wisps from Nightshades soul.
As he struggled, Nightshade could feel the powers within him beginning to fade and with a final act, he fought back which inadvertently activated the Time seal attached to Nega.
The resounded energy explosion evaporated Nega's clothes along with whatever was in the room. Nega fought it and after several moments Nightshade got loose and fell forward, powerless and nearly lifeless.
Looking to Nega as his aura filled the room and the pocket universe they were within. Nightshade had never seen Nega without his cloak. He always had it on and in the 300 years he had known him, he had never taken it off or slept for that matter. He was always planning and watching and acting on his instincts and plans which always gave Nightshade an edge in combat.
At this time Nightshade looked to Nega as he truly was. His eyes couldn't believe what he was seeing. He could feel his powers fade completely as the red energies of his soul literally got up and began to walk to Nega. With one final look back, Nightshades soul smiled and walked into Nega giving him the rest of his power.
As Nightshade began to turn to stone, he looked at the figure known as Nega in full, making sure to remember the one who destroyed him within his own realm.
Scars were plentiful and abandant on Nega's arms, legs, chest and he could assume his back. His left eye was viper like and his right was completely black. The fangs inside his mouth were long and black tipped with red from stains of blood. His physical build was athletic and strong, with his hair being short and white, showed many scars that were across his face. As Nightshade's sight began to grey into stone, he looked to the most cunning enemy he had ever come across and smiled knowing that he would never know revenge.
This enemy was known to him as Nega, but to everyone else, he was known as Zero.
With the last breath, he struggled to say one last word, a question that he formed as this Zero stared at him in the most devilish way.
"How?", and with that his body solidified and he shattered with a single flick of Zero's finger, slamming him into a wall.
Zero smiled and popped his neck and began a walk towards the rift into this world. "Now to finish this before it ever begins."
